Wow! This is absolutely one of your best! I struggle with just about everything you write about, but especially the AR15. I still have not gotten over Sandy Hook, it haunts me to this day. As for war, our son is deployed, as I write this , and I don’t know know where he is because that is also part of war. You pulled at my heart , Ashley but,as always, I’m so proud of you as a journalist and a compassionate person❤️

Thank you SO much. That means a lot! I had quite a "vulnerability hangover" publishing this, and was a little nervous. It felt more bare and close to the bone, but I'm glad I did. I hold you and my family in your heart, too. You are close to so much of this, and having to hold space and be still in the face of uncertainty is no easy feat. I appreciate your kind words and encouragement, always! <3

vulnerability makes for great writing! thanks for writing this; i’ve been gnawing around ways to have conversations with friends/family who make big efforts to not witness unpleasantness (ie., no news or politics). this gives me something to chew on! 🖤

Thank you so much, Kathi! I know exactly what you mean. There’s a fine line, but there’s also a certain type of intent to consider. 🩷 I appreciate you reading, and your kind words.
